Try the macaroni and cheese if you really want to try the house specialty. And their burgers are something to take seriously as well.

Fugakyu
Large restaurants are hard to come by in indie-centric and high-rent Brookline, but Fugakyu is a sprawling establishment that's laid out over two levels with a sushi bar, private shoji screened rooms, and open dining areas. Sushi is king here, with a very long list of traditional and specialty rolls. The sushi chef hails from Hawaii but comes to Boston via Japan, where he was trained in the art of sushi making. And art it is; each roll looks almost too good to eat. (Almost is the imperative word here -- it's really too delicious to actually pass up.) Reserve a private shoji room for a truly one-on-one date.

The Fireplace
The Fireplace is at its best in the autumn and winter months, and since it's chilly for a good six months of the year here (if not more), it's the perfect standby for a relaxing and romantic fireside date. The emphasis here is placed on wood-smoked and rotisserie dishes that are hearty, clean, and made with integrity. That's what earned The Fireplace certification from the Green Restaurant Society. Gluten-free patrons will be happy to note that The Fireplace has a GF menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Two words: sweet tooth. The answer is Finale. Although there are three Finale locations in Boston, the one in Coolidge Corner is especially perfect for a romantic evening. While Finale does serve savory items, their specialty is dessert and you won't regret saving room for these delicacies -- even if it means skipping the main course. Paired with a glass of wine, these treats are the perfect end to a perfect date.
